Where do you find new members?
Some lodges can’t answer this question. It seems that most of the time their trouble is not “where to look”, but the fact that they don’t “take the time to look.” It is to easy to sit back and hope that someone else will find the new members. I can assure that will not happen often.
Where do you find new members?
In many cases the young men of today are finding us. They look toward our web sites and have the ability to study and learn more about our organization than most of us ever thought of learning. The Grand Secretary receives 30-40 inquiries requesting information about Freemasonry every month from our web site (ilmason.org). These are usually from men under thirty years of age. They have learned of the good things we accomplish through our Masonic charities. They learned of our work helping the children of Illinois, the program to assist our senior members and their ladies, and the various community projects sponsored by many local lodges.
Where do you find new members?
We need to find more ways to communicate with the men attending college and even the young men still in high school. We need to take the time to look in our own backyards. Let us find the young man in our communities. These men are interested in joining an organization that does good deeds for others without asking what they will get back. That, my Brethren is Illinois Freemasonry.
