GRAND MASTER'S MESSAGE

I believe this fraternity we call Freemasonry is a very special thing.  I have witnessed many good acts by our Brethren in my years as a Mason, from just giving a Brother a ride to lodge, to helping someone with a flat tire, to a major helping hand after a disaster.  These things I have witnessed along with the anecdotal stories we have all heard tell me we have a special thing.  We should remind ourselves every day of how lucky we are to have this fraternity.  We should strive to make it better and give it to other good men.  Yes, it is a gift, given to us.  One we should pass on to future generations.   It is too precious not to keep it going.

We are now seeing young men find us and begin to experience the feeling of belonging that comes with being a Mason.  We must be prepared to allow this new group of Masons the opportunities we were given.  They are just as able as we were and I believe they will do their best.  I had the opportunity awhile back to watch two of our young members learning the work and it was a pleasure to see.  As I watched these men, I thought we are in good hands.  I am very hopeful about our future.

I am asking all Illinois Masons to help pass along this gift by introducing good men to our Fraternity.  When we add the teachings of Masonry to the character of good men we have a winning combination for our fraternity, our community and our country.
