Fraternity statewide mourns the passing of Bob Fischer

RW Bro. Robert Theodore Fischer passed away early Monday morning, July 23rd. The list of Bob's Masonic credentials and contributions to our fraternity are many; member of the Board of Grand Examiners, Past Master of several lodges, current Master of Sunrise Lodge, Secretary of Bensensville Lodge, Education Officer of the 8th NE and mentor and inspiration to so many of us.

Despite all the things that constituted his Masonic calling card and his energetic pursuit of perfection in our ritual and rites, nothing could completely mask Bob’s very human side, his desire to be a friend and helper and even his appreciation of cooking food preparation, an area where he could easily share his proficiency and results as much as he could his knowledge of Masonic ritual and floor work.

Visitation was held at the Geils Funeral Home in Bensenville on July 27th and included eloquent, wonderful and emotional eulogies from Bob's wife Naomi and his three daughters, followed by the traditional Masonic tribute of affection. More than 400 brethren from across the state were present, including our Grand Master, Deputy Grand Master and Senior Grand Warden. The packed funeral home spoke volumes about Bob's powerful reach, the lives he touched and the legacy that will now both endure and evolve. If you were not able to attend the services, your condolences can still be expressed on line at www.geilsfuneralhome.com.

Please offer your prayers and condolences to Bob’s family. Among our supplications to the Supreme Architect of the Universe is this one, if we may be so bold as to paraphrase our departed friend. “Take care, oh Lord, of our deceased brother, Brother Fischer. As you carry him to that better place, that House not made with hands, remember that you are carrying precious cargo. You are carrying our brother.”
